A Day In The Life Of A Baseball Fan
Eddie Lewicki
"The view of a fan looking through the fence"
When thinking about a project that would suit this assignment I thought of several different ideas. Baseball is something that has surrounded my life and the lives of my family members for years. Besides the view of the players and coaches I thought it would be unique to take a look at the fans which stand out in various different elements watching the game. Baseball is an American pastime and is played by millions of kids around the world. Personally I have played baseball since the age of three and have been lucky enough to play at the college level. These images display the view that fans have during a baseball game. This assignment is a photo story following the fans during the Siena baseball game at Canisius.Through The Fence:
Fans during a baseball game can see an amazing array of sights from, homeruns, great pitching, errors, and a bunch of people playing the game they love. The fence is placed at fields as a protection from flying baseballs but also allows the viewer to focus on a certain area. This focus point is similar to the lens of a camera as fans are directed to focus on the players. Baseball has many participants from the players and coaches to the fans who watch each game. These images show different aspects of baseball life which fans can see every time the go to the ballpark.
"Coach talking to a former player"
This photo was taken by placing the camera against the fence and took a photo of Coach Rossi talking to a former player before the game. This image displays how a fan can not only watch the game but see the interactions between participants of the game. Coach Rossi is always talking to former players and this is something that a fan can watch through the fence.
"The coaches meeting before the game"
Coaches meet with the umpires before every game to go over the field rules and exchange lineup cards. If a fan is their early enough they will be able to see this process. This process has been a part of baseball from its beginning and will continue to be a daily routine.
"A MLB scout watching the game"
There are almost always major league scouts watching games searching for future talent. Not only is this their job but they are also fans of baseball. With talented players on the Siena roster their are MLB scouts at almost every game. This scout works for the Arizona Diamondbacks and has been watching the Saints all season.
"My father and Mrs. Ahearn watching the game from a distance"
This image shows two parents standing back from the fence watching the entire scene of fans and players during this great day for baseball. Baseball fans can be very weird as some believe that they need to watch the game in the same spot for good luck.
"A wide view of the entire baseball complex"
This image involves many characters as it includes fans, coaches, and players. This image is the view a fan would have when standing back away from the fence. This picture shows every site which a fan may encounter during a day at the ballpark. This was a fairly small crowd but each fan was their cheering on the young men playing the game.
"The bus is a common meeting place at the end of the day"
College baseball includes a demanding schedule which means a lot of traveling. Parents will talk to their kids at the end of the game as everyone is walking towards the bus. Baseball is a unique sport that brings people together from many places around the world. This is the end of a day for a fan at the ballpark.
Great shots from the baseball game, as a player you did a great job multi-tasking while focusing on the game while also taking some good shots from the live action.
ReplyDeleteI really like that you did this on baseball because it shows how much you care about it and what it is like to go to a baseball game as a Siena athlete. I really liked the way you used the people in it to show how it is like to observe as well. Really nice!!
ReplyDeleteI rally like how you did this from the perspective from the fan. The pictures are all very creative and well taken. My favorite picture is defiantly the first one. It gives great perspective.
